5 Ways to Freshen Up your Morning Routine

Anyone else have trouble in the morning? Perpetually late is one of those ‘three words that best describe you’ go-to answers for me. I think the biggest reason for my timing struggle is due to my morning routine (or lack there of). So for today’s post, I’ve partnered with Dove to bring you 5 ways to freshen up your morning routine. This post is as much for me as it is for all of you guys. I’ve GOT to get it together! How your morning plays out can 100% affect the rest of your day. If I have a bad morning, I’m likely to have a lousy day as well. But like my mom always says, “You can choose to be happy.” So choose to be happy today and try out these little tips to start your day off right!

“It glides on so soft and silky you don’t even know you’re wearing it. This deodorant keeps me smelling so good from the time I put it on to the time I go to bed.” – beaglebullet7669

“This scent is so amazing, I couldn’t be more in love with it. And the even better part is the 48-hour protection and your underarms really do feel smoother!” – Kproffer

“This deodorant protects all day long. Noticed a difference in the softness of my skin in one use.”

5 Ways to Freshen Up your Morning Routine

1.Open up your windows. Darkness only makes me want to sleep more. So on mornings that I need to get up and moving, I walk around the house opening up all the curtains and blinds to let the sunlight stream in. This is something I’d like to try and do everyday. Trust me, there is nothing more inspiring than a sunlit house. Artificial lighting can be harsh on your eyes in the morning but natural light feels fresh, clean and cool. Something about seeing my walls bathing in natural light just makes me smile. Plus it saves electricity, which will save you a little $$.

2.Make your bed. After years of hearing mom yell upstairs for us to make up our beds before school, I never thought I’d be saying this. I vowed that once I had my own place, I would NEVER make my bed. It’s just a waste of time right? WRONG. A clean home is a happier home. Or at least mine is. When I’m walking through the house in the morning and I see my made up bed, it makes be feel more productive ready to take on the day. It also closes the book for me on getting back into bed. On days that I work from home, it’s super easy to allow myself to work from the bed all day. I’m planning to start getting up and making my bed first thing so that I push myself to get to work.

3.Drink a glass of water. Drinking water is so important to our health but it’s something that we often forget to do. Especially when our days are filled with coffee, soft drinks, tea, and other non-water options. I’ve been trying to drink more and more water lately and I found the best way to get in the habit is to drink water before you drink or eat anything else in the morning. While your coffee is brewing, grab a glass of water. Hydrate yourself before you start drinking and eating foods that ultimately aid in dehydration. I like my water with a little lemon or lime to give it a little taste.

4.Read over your schedule or calendar. Before you start stressing about all the things you have to do, read over your to-do list, schedule, or check your calendar and mentally (or physically) prepare yourself for the day. I often start to stress before I even see what I have to do only to later realize there was no need to stress at all. You may find that you can shuffle things around to make time for something you want to do. Or it might prepare you for a quick lunch so that you can decide what your going to eat ahead of time to eliminate the stress of choosing. Preparedness is the key to an organized, happy day!

5.WEAR DEODORANT. There is (seriously) nothing worse that realizing after you left your house that you forgot deodorant. Or realizing halfway through a stressful day that your deodorant is sub-par.  I’ve recently made the switch to Dove Advanced Care DeodorantDove Advanced Care offers 48 hours of odor and wetness protection plus added skincare benefits with its NutriumMoisture formula and Dove ¼ moisturizers for softer, smoother underarms. Plus it smells like heaven, y’all. I’ve been using my husbands ‘boy’ deodorant since our move to MS because it came in a two pack, but I am THRILLED to finally have underarms that are smooth, girlish, and protected from oder and wetness. Having good sweat protection can make or break a day (or an outfit!).

I know that when my day starts out right, I have the rest of it under control. Be in control of your days by trying these 5 simple ways to make your morning routine work for you!

Looking over my planner is something I should start doing in the morning before I get to work. It would make me feel so much better about taking on the day! I’m really good at making the bed in the morning during the week but when my boyfriend spends the night on the weekends the bed is a MESS and it makes such a difference, haha!

Hahaha, love the non-existing transition from 4 to 5 🙂 Agree, no deodorant is just not good. And I also love my perfume. Depending on my mood I wear a different one each day! X
