My New Hair and Where I Got It

So a lot of things have changed around here since I last posted. I had my gallbladder removed a little over a week ago (which is why I’ve been so MIA) and the recovery knocked the wind out of my sails. But I’m all good now – minus the fact that my belly button looks kinda funny. During the craziness of pre-surgery/post-surgery events, I also went to my favorite gal, Gabrielle at Studio Gabrielle for a fresh color on my drab locks. And boy did she deliver, check it out!

I’ve known Gabrielle McKeller for several years now. We met when she saved my life (ok… my hair) after a botched ombre job. I was quite literally freaking out over my orange hair when I remembered hearing about this ‘hair whisperer’ in Baton Rouge. I quickly called and made an appointment for the next day. Gabby fixed my hair color, she restored my fried ends, and she became my friend for life.

I have to imagine this is how many of her encounters have gone over the many years since she has started her education and now has perfected the art of hair. And I imagine this is how most of them will go now that she has opened up her own salon at Studio Gabriella. This salon is a culmination of all of her hard work and determination to be not just great but the BEST in her field.

Gabby’s skills are virtually unsurmountable in her industry. She is always one step ahead of the rest. This is probably a result of the fact that she has trained in Tennessee, California, and New York City under some of the most influential stylists and colorists of our generation. And if I know Gabby, every single stylist that comes to work for her will have the same passion, drive, and talent that she does.

When it comes to your hair she is meticulous, honest, and safe. I’ve been dreaming for years to have beautiful semi-blonde hair with highlights and dimension, but the reality of my hair is that it is naturally almost black, it bleaches brassy, and going too blonde would damage my hair. When I recently said, “let’s go lighter” she agreed but was very clear that it was going to take a lot time and effort. After it was all said and done, she’s still calling me to make sure that I like it and suggesting ways that we could do it in the future as well because she truly cares about the hair of her clients and wants us to be excited and happy with what she does. More importantly she wants to keep our hair happy and healthy as well.

As for the new salon, (I’d probably let Gabby do my hair behind a dumpster if necessary) it is magnificent. It’s cozy but modern and the girls make you feel at home as soon as you walk in. They offer you a drink and make sure that you’re comfortable 100% of the time. The warm towels on my neck are probably the best part of the whole thing. Plus, you just can’t go wrong when you hang around the ladies in the salon. It’s like sitting around chatting with a couple of my best friends even though I only see them ever couple of months!

If you’re looking for a one-time salon to get your hair done in, then you’re in the wrong place, because as soon as you walk in, you’ll never want to leave. And you surely won’t let anyone else near your head with scissors or hair color ever again! Studio Gabriella is the best of the best. Skill and talent aside, they are some of the greatest people I know and you won’t be sorry for visiting them. You’ll leave with fabulous locks and probably a couple new friends.

Go over and visit Studio Gabrielle online, facebook, and instagram to check out some of their amazing work! And give them a call today to schedule your appointment!
