SURPRISE!!! There’s a Baby On Design!!!

I couldn’t think of a better way to start out this week of Thanksgiving than by telling you guys the thing that we’re most thankful for this year. We’re having a baby, y’all! I feel like I’ve been waiting to announce the pregnancy on my blog for YEARS, but in reality its only been about 7ish weeks. But now that I have, I am SO excited to share this journey with all of you. Keith and I are so excited to start a family and so thankful for the wonderful group of friends and family that have already showered us with love and support over the past few weeks.

Like I said above, I plan on sharing tons of fun pregnancy, maternity, and baby related things here on the blog and bringing you all along on my pregnancy journey. If there is something that you specifically want to hear about, please leave me a comment below and I’ll do my best. To get you guys all up to speed on what’s been going on for the past couple months, I’m answering some of the questions I know you’re going to want to ask below! Also, how cute is my little family?

How Far Along Are You? Due Date?

As of today (11/20/17) I’m 11 weeks! My due date is June 11th. It’s PERFECT timing for us because both Keith and my momma are teachers and are off work in the summer! Yay for help!

Were you trying? Or was this a happy accident?

Keith and I have been trying for over a year to get pregnant. By August of this year, I had completely lost hope, but we decided to give it one more shot before we started looking into fostering and adoption (still 100% in our future plans). With the help of a new book given to me by a friend and a little more in depth charting and whatnot, here we are. Thankful and in awe of God’s timing for us and his plan for our family. Looking back now, we are so glad that God is in control and we aren’t. For those of you wondering about the book/method we used to get pregnant finally, I’ll do a whole post on it soon, but if you’re desperate to know, please send me an email or comment below and I’ll give you all the info.

How long have you known? When did you find out?

Here’s the story. On the morning of the day that I would have been 3 weeks along, I woke up feeling super nauseous. I knew it was too early to be having symptoms but I told Keith I wanted to take a pregnancy test. He begged me not to knowing that it was really too early to get a positive result even if I WAS pregnant. He also knew that if it was negative, I was going to be super bummed even though there was still a chance that I was. In true ‘Kassy’ fashion (I have an instant gratification issue) as soon as he left for work, I left for Kroger where I purchased several pregnancy tests. I cried like a baby when I saw that faint but obvious second pink line. I told Keith over lunch while he was eating a lunchable (child) and he sat there frozen and finished eating his lunchable while I sat there waiting for him to react. It was hilarious and ridiculous. After a year of trying, I think he was more shocked than anyone that it actually happened! He has since become the BEST husband to a pregnant woman EVER! PS: I’ve been nauseous every day since… So I guess that it was a symptom!! Which leads me to…

Have you been sick?

OH YES. Like I said, I’ve been unbelievably nauseous everyday since the day I found out. ALL DAY LONG. It’s miserable. I only throw up every couple of days but I cant shake the nausea. My doc gave me some meds at around 7 weeks that have made things tremendously better and for the last week I’ve also been wearing ugly seasickness bracelets like they’re Cartier! LOL!

Cravings? Food Aversions?

Nothing weird. I’m eating more often than I used to, but less at a time. That’s the only thing that keeps the nausea at bay. My cravings have been things that I already love like potatoes (anyway you cook them), burritos, toast, and lemons. I can put away some lemons. My dentist is going to hate me.

Are you bumpin yet?

I wish. I feel huge. Though I haven’t actually gained any weight yet (I lost a little at first), the bloat is real. I can tell there is a change in my belly. It’s rounder for sure. But not so round that anyone else could tell. I bought some jeggings, though, because my jeans are feeling a bit more snug every day. I’m so excited to start buying maternity clothes. I’ve already ordered some to share with you guys! YAY!

Will you find out the gender? What do you guys want?

YES! 100x YES! As soon as we possibly can. I’ve got way to many things to plan and do that are NOT gender neutral. Nursery decorating anyone? We’re going to find out around Christmas and we’re going old school and finding out, just us two, in the sonogram room. No big gender reveal, though I will be announcing it on my insta soon after so make sure you’re following. I think its a girl. I just have a gut feeling. We both kind of want a girl, but of course will be happy with anything. Collins (our lab), on the other hand said if it’s not a girl, she’s moving out! Sully (the little pup) is indifferent and would prefer to remain the baby himself.

Any other weird things happening?

I’ve always loved animals, but lately I’ve been obsessed with horses. Right after we found out I was pregnant, we went to Gatlinburg. While there, we went to the Dixie Stampede (Dolly, you’re a gem) and I sobbed through the entire show. Why, you ask? The horses were just so majestic and impressively obedient. I’ve also just finished watching game of thrones and I had a meltdown over the amount of equestrian violence that they show on HBO. Forget the human violence, why must we kill ALL of the horses? Then, Keith and I watched a show about english gangsters in the 20s and I cried at the beginning (not an emotional show) because the gangster was riding a beautiful black stallion and I couldn’t stop thinking about how amazing this creature that God created was. I also have been having a lot of sympathy for the suffering of larger predatory animals. Keith has been laughing at me, at which point I cry more because I’m angry at him for laughing. I just can’t make him understand how amazing these animals are… I blame it on the hormones.

Anything else? I think I’ve covered just about everything and probably told you more than you want to know. I did warn you that I’ll be sharing and sharing and sharing on the blog over the next 7ish months! I’m so pumped for this journey and for the new life that is already growing and becoming an amazing, wonderful person. I’m more thankful than ever that God knows us all and begins our story in our Mother’s womb. I can’t wait to see how God uses this little life that Keith and I are already so in love with. Until next time!
