How I would spend One Million Dollars

Howdy folks! There’s been a lot of talk around my house about winning the lottery (not that we play the lottery… we don’t)! But my dad recently went in with some friends for work to buy some power ball tickets and so of course, that got us thinking about what we would do if we won. Not that we ever will. The Sanchez/Randazzo family is super unlucky. In fact, Dad only bought tickets because of (and I quote) ‘peer pressure’! It’s apparently still a thing even when you’re his age! He said if he won, he’d start off by giving Keith and I one million tax free dollars. Since we’ve been talking about it (and this outfit makes me feel like a million bucks) I decided to share my list of things that I would do if I had that kind of money. I’ve thought quite a lot about it lately. And if you’re looking for some sappy ‘I’ll give it all away’ answer, you’re not going to like this one! This is the real deal. So I’m being honest. SUPER HONEST!! Keep reading to check it out! PS: This top is only $19, comes in 4 colors and is long enough to cover your butt (I’ve got it tucked here)! SHOP IT HERE!

Just a quick blurb about this outfit. This off the shoulder top from Make Me Chic is only $20 and comes in 4 colors. It’s fantastic quality too! You can’t see it here, but it’s long enough to cover even my tall ladies booties if you want to wear it with leggings this fall. It’s also a cute high/lo look as well.

AND THESE JEANS! Thanks to a very gorgeous lady who shares my physical attributes (tiny waist, curvy hips), I found these AMAZING mom jeans from Urban Outfitters. Thanks for the rec, Kendall. Love you! They are everything, y’all. I’ve been dying for some high waisted jeans and these are too good. I sized down because I wanted them to really suck me in! I would try sizing down if I were you! But trust me, you need!!

How would I spend a million dollars, you ask? I shall tell…

Tithe

10% off the top would go straight back to my church. That’s what I believe is right and that’s how I was raised. It’s a joy to be able to invest in the church that spends so much time investing in you! God doesn’t physically need our money because it’s not OUR money to begin with. It’s all his and he gives and takes away as he see fit. And he only asks for 10%. That is not a greedy God. That is a giving God. Although, some days I wish he would just give me a hundy and say TREAT YO’ SELF! The first 100K goes to the church. Done. Easy.

Pay Off Stuff

We just bought a house last year and owe a tiny bit in student loans and some to my very generous Grandparents who helped us with our down payment. Debt is something Keith and I would like to avoid in the future. We taken out what we have had to and not a penny more. Other than a mortgage, we plan to save up to make all of our bigger purchases like cars and stuff without having to borrow money. It’s difficult to have to save but owing other people is just putting yourself in a really bad spot. Recently I’ve learned that the majority of people are up to their eyeballs in debt. I had no idea. And I’d like to be as responsible as I can with the money that God has given me (see above)! Thats about 180k. So we’ve spent 280K so far… What’s next?

New Cars

Keith and I are both driving cars that are 10 years old. They run great and we love them. We’ll probably drive them until they quit, but if we had a million dollars, we would definitely be getting new cars. Keith said he would like 2 cars (greedy). The first is his dream car – a 1969 Mustang Fastback. I’m thinking maroon with tan interior (I don’t know what he’s thinking). That’s such a sexy car. But he also needs something to drive every day. He wanted a Ford F150 Raptor but I had to very quickly tell him that we do not drive Fords in the house unless they’re vintage. He was a bit upset but settled for a nice Toyota Tundra. It’s what my Pawpaw and my Dad have and we love them. Keith’s car budget is easily 80k.

My car, you ask? It’s a bit more expensive and much more elaborate. I’ve thought long and hard and I’ve tried to avoid it, but I think I’m going to have to grab myself a custom Mercedes G Wagon. I mean, come on. They’re AMAZING. I guess I could reel it in and go for a more affordable Mercedes SUV, but why? I have a million dollars!

With my G Wagon, our car money is up to 200k. That’s 480k spent. A million doesn’t go as far as you think…

Stuff around the house

There is a good bit of things that we want to fix around our house. New flooring, countertops, and new fence. So we’d put about 20k into the house, maybe. We don’t plan on staying here forever so not too much money, but enough to make it nicer for a few more years.

Kassy On Design

A minimum of 10k would be going right back into this little passion project of mine. A new website, a couple nice handbags, and a trip to NYFW for SUREEEE!

VACAY

We’d also probably put some money aside (lets say 15k –  I could probably spend WAYY more) for a lavish European vacation. I’m talking a month long traipse around all of those fabulous historic cities in Europe! DREAM!

I should probably insert here that Dad also said that he would build me a house. That house wouldn’t be part of my one million. Wow, Dad. So generous. He’s going to regret his decision. I have VERY expensive taste! But we’ll probably live in our house for a couple more years before we start. I have no idea how many rooms we’ll need (Keith thinks he wants 7 kids and I’m not mad about it)!

Savings for Future

So now we’ve spent about 525k. Which means we have a little less than half left. This money would go into savings. Maybe we would chat with a financial advisor and invest some or maybe we would just hold onto it. I want to adopt some kids, give some to charities and foundations that I’m passionate about, and invest in some friend’s personal and professional projects. Plus, who knows what will happen in the future. I could totally find a way to immediately spend this money, but I’d like to have some set aside for the future. I have big plans for my family and I’d love to have some extra capital around just in case!

So how would you spend One Million Dollars? I’d love to hear all about your plans below in the comments!

Love that shirt and the fact that you tucked it in and it stills looks cute is even better yet. If I won I would like to pay off my student loans and set money aside to help my kids go to college. I would like to buy a house and a new car would be nice. Add in a vacation to Europe and Hawaii and I would save the rest. Of course I would still try to be frugal and use coupons, Groupon and Expedia rates!

OMG I could think about this one forever because there’s so much I would want to do with those millions. You’ve got some great ones in there. Love that you included tithing. For now, I’m just gonna be happy with the blessings I have and whatever is planned for me I will take. Millions or not, I’m happy either way. (but I’m still secretly crossing my fingers ha ha)

You look so beautiful in those jeans, shades, and top. The jeans definitely hug your curves the right way and give you amazing shape and the over the shoulder look is classic and beautiful on the top.

I love your classic look! I would totally rock this look from head to toe. As far as hitting the lottery, my goodness it’s so far from my reality that I have no idea what I’d do! LOL
