Trend Alert: Asymmetrical Ripped Jeans & Choker Tops

Hey guys! I know I’m been slacking a bit here on the blog, but I’m working on getting my content ready for my Disney World Trip that’s coming up! I’m planning on posting LOTS of info on how I usually plan my trips, what I wear, and what I absolutely can’t miss! If there are any topics that you’re interested in reading about, please send me an email (kassy@kassyondesign.com) or comment below. I’ve been wanting to chat with you guys about some of my favorite new trends that are popping up EVERYWHERE for spring. Today, I’m sharing my love for asymmetrical ripped jeans. I recently bought a pair and then ended up cutting another pair of my older jeans to match! The jeans that I cut are in the photos below. I’m also sharing this super inexpensive choker top from Zaful! Perfect to transition into spring!

So what’s an asymmetrical ripped jean hem, you ask? Well, that is the name that I’ve decided to give this trend. Don’t ask me what it’s actually called because I have no clue. To me, this means that the front hem of the jeans is cut a bit shorter than the back hem. You can see this detail in the close up photos above. Like I said, I cut these myself using an old pair of Old Navy Rockstar Jeans.  I used my new pair to measure the length and just cut. Then I stuck them in the wash and let them fray a bit! I LOVE the shorter jean length for spring and the edginess of the unfinished hem.

I think this type of hem makes it so easy to wear lots of different types of shoes. Especially booties, sneakers, and sandals. I’m going super casual with my old Nike sneaks in this look. I’m crushing hard on my new bag from Zaful. How cute are these little fring-ies! It reminds me of a pair of loafers and since loafers are another trend happening right now, I’d say this bag is on point (do people still say that?).

Also, this top is the BOMB! If you’ve been around, then you know that this whole choker/v-neck look is everywhere. I love the simplicity of pairing that trend on this t-shirt! It would be super cute with a black bomber or even a jean jacket while it’s still cool (if you’re up north, it’s not still cool down in Central MS) and then alone, of course, as the weather warms up. I can’t wait to tuck it into a pair of high waisted denim shorts.

Let’s talk about denim shorts for a hot second. I have been on a quest to find the perfect pair for several years now to no avail. I found my fav pair of white denim last year but alas, they do not come in a blue denim. I’ve been dying for a pair of high waisted distressed denim shorts, but let me tell you my issue. It’s probably an issue many of you have. I have a big butt and a small waist. My thigh size matches my butt size but for some reason, clothing manufacturers think that my thighs should me MUCH smaller than they are. Trust me, clothing companies, I would like that as well, but that is not the way that God made me. I can try to loose weight but my proportions stay the same.

When I find high waisted shorts that fit my waist, they squeeze my thighs and butt (unattractive) and when I find a pair that look cute on my butt, I could fit a small child in the waistband next to me! So this spring, I will be on the hunt for the pair of denim shorts that fit girls shaped like me! I will probably be doing a lot of buying and returning, but that’s alright! I WILL FIND THOSE SHORT! If you have the same problem, please comment below. If you’d like, I could share my process with you guys and give tips on all of the shorts that I try! Let me know!

On a much more exciting note, today is Louis Henry Sullivan the dog’s Birthday! He’s 3 whole years old an this Momma is so proud! 3 years ago, this little guy fixed my broken heart and made me a better person. I like to think God was using Sully to prepare me for my future with Keith and Collins!  He is such a joy in our lives. I love how much he loves his mommy (and his dad and sister)! In true Randazzo Tradition, he and Collins will be getting pudding cups and yummy wet food to celebrate this momentous occasion. I’m sure I will be documenting it on my insta-stories so make sure you follow me!

I’m loving this trend! I think what I’ll probably end up doing is taking a pair of my old jeans and turning them in to this distressed look, instead of buying a new pair that might go out of style, that way I can save a bit of money and still rock this cute look!
