8 Beauty Must Haves for 2016

We’re well on our way into 2016, y’all. Did you make a new years resolution? I didn’t. I’ve never really been good at them and I figure it’s better to just make a change and not put too much pressure on it. For some reason, ‘resolution’ makes it sound really serious.

One change that I’m hoping to make this year is to up my beauty routine. I’m a no nonsense kind of morning person. Most of you will be surprised to hear that I NEVER use hairspray or any hair product for that matter (unless I’m getting super fancy). and on a daily basis, my makeup consists of powder and mascara. But I’m 24 now and I feel like I should really start putting in more effort to take care of my skin, hair, and generally try harder on a daily basis.

So I don’t use a LOT of fun products but I have my favorite basic products. I wanted to share those with you in case you’re looking for some ways to up your beauty routine as well. These products are the BOMB!

1| TPF Cosmetics Lipstick in Shrimp – If you haven’t heard of The Perfect Face cosmetics, you need to check them out now. Danielle Doyle is the owner and makeup artist for TPF and she is so incredible at what she does. Her line of makeup is EXACTLY what you need to up your makeup game. This lip color is my favorite neutral. Its a nude color with just enough pink to make your lips stand out. I love a smokey eye and a nude lip so this is a go-to product for me.

2| TPF Cosmetics Loose Powder in Cream Puff – This is TPF’s best selling product, I think. If not, it should be. It is FANTASTIC and can be used for so many things. It a translucent powder that can be used to set your concealer. You know how you spend all that time putting concealer on under your eyes (or anywhere else) and then you set it with the same color powder that you use on the rest of your face. The problem is then the concealed area looks exactly like the rest of your face instead of looking a little brighter. This is the remedy to that problem. This allows you to set your concealer with a lighter powder so that it stays light and bright. For those of you who like to contour, this is going to be your new best friend. For more tips on how to use it, check out Danielle Doyle’s YouTube channel.

3| TPF Cosmetics Picture Perfect Foundation – Can’t find a foundation that you love? Look NO further. This foundation is thick enough to cover all of those unwanted spots but light enough to feel like you’re not caking makeup onto your face. I use the color Y5 on my face and P2 as my concealer and I’ve never loved any makeup more. It’s a game changer. The best part is TPF makes small sample sizes so that you can order several shades and try them out to see which one matches. Danielle Doyle does a lot of pageant girl makeup and these girls swear by this stuff for stage but trust me, it’s perfect for everyday use as well.

4| MAC Lipstick in Russian Red – If you’ve been following the blog, you’ve seen me rock a red lip. This is by far my favorite red lip color EVER. I’ve tried many others and always end up coming back to this one. Its the perfect vibrant shade and its a matte finish. I’ve gifted this shade to several of my friends who are addicted now as well. You won’t be sorry about this purchase for sure!

5| Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm in Sunny Berry – If you’re a chapstick-a-holic like me (I literally have a chapstick hidden in every room of my house), then this is the one for you. Its an AMAZING chapstick with SPF 30 and the best part… it is a lip color as well. The color isn’t harsh, its just enough to make you feel like you have some color on your lips. This has been a life-saver for me. My lips tend to be the same color as the rest of my face if I don’t have on any lip color and this drives my poor mother insane (kassy… go put on some lip gloss). So when Elizabeth and her mom Laura introduced me to this product, I was sold. And don’t worry, just because there is color doesn’t mean they skimped o the chapstick part. Neutrogena is here to save your lips this winter and they’re going to let you pick from 5 shades while they do it! Also, it tastes great, just in case you were gunna eat it.

6|Redkin All Soft Shampoo and Heavy Cream – This stuff has been a game changer for me. I used to use drugstore/walmart shampoo and conditioner but realized that it was making my hair dry and heavy. I have thin hair that is damaged really easily and decided to try and take more care of it by investing in better shampoo and conditioner. After trying many different things, I’ve decided this is, by far, the best my hair has ever felt. If I use someone else’s stuff on a trip, I can tell IMMEDIATELY that my hair is dry and brittle. I don’t use the All Soft Conditioner. I’m sure it’s great but I skip straight to the Heavy Cream to ensure maximum softness. Also these come in HUGE bottles and travel size. I usually keep a couple travel size around for traveling. They are the perfect size.

7| Fromm 1907 Large Square Thermal Rounder Brush – In the last 6 months, I’ve started round brushing my hair again and boy am I pleasantly surprised. It helps to tame my natural curls before I use any kind of iron tool which saves me from some of the damage. I usually dry my hair almost all the way using just my dryer and hand and then use the round brush to finish it up. Don’t expect to be good at it the first time. Round Brushing your own hair is a talent that I am still learning to master. Keep trying, though, it’s SO worth it.

8| St. Tropez Tanning Mousse – If I could only use one beauty product for the rest of my life, it would be St. Tropez. I always feel better about myself when I have a little glow. If you’re looking for an artificial tanner, this is the one to go with. It’s green based which means none of that orange crap and YOU control the amount of tan you want to be. St. Tropez make a little mitt thing that you use to rub it all over your body. It’s crazy easy to use and it doesn’t streak. The more coats you put on, the darker you’ll be. If you have any questions on how to use it, just email me or ask in the comments. I promise it’s the best self-tanner out there.
