Happy New Year, everyone! I hope this year is starting out great for you guys! I’ve taken a brief blog hiatus over the Holidays to focus on family but I’m glad to be back to work. I’m typically not one for New Year’s Resolutions because, well, I don’t like to fail (shocker)! This year, I’ve decided to kick the blog into high gear and so I wanted to set some realistic goals for myself. I think these can apply to multiple areas of life, so I thought I’d share with you my very realistic New Year’s Resolutions.
My (very realistic) New Year’s Resolutions
1| Wake Up Earlier. Since I only work out of the house part time, most of my mornings are spent blogging or designing. That means I usually make my own schedule. This sounds great, but it can be difficult to make your self get up and work when no one is forcing you. In order to push myself to be more productive everyday, I’m going to try to get up and start my day earlier! More hours of work in the morning, mean more hours of chill time with Keith!
2| Think Before I Eat! I’m not going to resolve myself to lose 10 lbs this year. I know that life happens and trying to lose weight is one of the most stressful things for me. What I will promise myself, is to think before I eat something. Mindless eating gets me every time. I throw a hand full of M&Ms in my mouth as I pass through the kitchen and BAM, I’ve just consumed 100 calories that I didn’t need. This year, I’d like to get a hold on my eating habits. I’m not vowing to cut out sugar or go totally low carb, I’m just going to try to think about the food, its nutrients, and whether I really need it.
3| Work Out at Least 3 Times a Week. Another promise I’ve made and failed before is getting my butt in tip top shape. Unrealistic for me. I’m a size 6, the smallest I’ve ever been is a size 4. I have jiggle in places I wish I didn’t but that is OK! That is who I am! In an attempt to keep myself active and healthy, I’m going to try to work out at least 3 times a week. I’ve been working out more often than that over the last week or so, which is awesome! I know that there will be weeks when I don’t want to do ANYTHING, though. Those are the weeks that I will implement this rule to be sure that I don’t let myself go completely.
4| Reacquaint Myself with Old Hobbies. I used to play the piano, paint abstracts, sew, etc. This year, I’d like to try those old hobbies again. I asked my grandma for some new paint supplies for Christmas. Plus, my mom dug up an old sewing machine over the holidays. I’m excited to put those to good use. I’m definitely not a seamstress or Picasso or a concert pianist, but I think it’s important to be well rounded. And who knows, maybe I’ll fall in love with these hobbies all over again.
5| Be Genuine. In the blogging world, it’s so easy to get caught up in what you THINK your readers want to see. While giving your readers what they want is important, its even more important to stay true to who you are. This year, I plan to be even more ‘ME’ than I have been in the past here on the blog. That means making sure that I’m telling you guys the dirty truth about products I try and clothes I wear. I started Kassy On Design to be a looking glass into my life and I want to be sure that you guys are seeing all of it!
PS: I’m loving my new leather personalized planner from Graphic Image!
