Hi guys! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I certainly did! I spent Saturday with my mom, sister, and best friend/photography wizard shooting my bridals in City Park in New Orleans. I cannot wait to share the photos with you! They are stunning. Then we had a lovely little afternoon strolling down Magazine St. Magazine is probably my FAVORITE place in Nola. It has a NYC feel with a southern flair.
Speaking of southern flair, this week in my neutral series were talking about creating a bedroom that has a rustic, feminine edge but is totally safe (as in, not TOO girly) for those of you share space with your hubby.
Sooo… I’m in love! And once again, I’m rethinking my own bedroom design. My guest bedroom currently has this look going on but definitely needs a little re-vamp since it is currently wedding central.
A wooden bed with a little texture can really add so much to a space. This bed is WONDERFUL, but there are many out there like it. Just be sure when you are looking that you stay with a really natural, unfinished wood. Anything this a gloss or stain is going to be a little more traditional. If you’re going for rustic, you need rustic wood. My uncle built my custom wooden bed. If you need one and are in South La, I can hook you up! Just comment or email me. He’s a wizard with a hammer and a couple of old fence boards.
By now you know that I’m a sucker for clean white bedding. I love the way it offsets a bed and makes the rest of the pieces in the room really pop. Everyone needs a bench, or chest, or something like that at the end of their bed. This pretty X-bench will give you a little modern style and a very nice place to tie your shoes:)
I went with a very feminine ruffle curtain for this room to offset the more masculine natural woods. I think they really set the tone for the space. In addition, I would go for a nice warm grey quilt for your ‘end of the bed’ blanket.
The pillows I chose are a little more graphic since we’ve stayed away from patterns so far in this space. The ‘Life is better…” Pillow is currently on my bed. Every time I see it, it reminds me to smile more. I think this is a message we all need to be reminded of often.
Accent the space with the wooden stump side tables. They are EVERYTHING. I added a little gold accessory (they have these on sale at Hobby Lobby right now) and Mrs. Rae said I needed to use a deer head somewhere and I think this modern acrylic version is PERFECT in this space.
Modern, but still true to the way we live in South Louisiana. This is the perfect space for my southern ladies.
