Jewel tones are probably my very favorite ‘collection’ of colors. They exude rich elegance with a hint of bohemian chic. I’ve been dying to design a Jewel Tone living room and I think I’ve finally gotten it how I like it. To be honest, my living room is a jumbled mess right now and I’m still trying to inspire myself to make some changes. Maybe this mood board will finally do the job.
I stayed with a neutral sofa here, although making it a chesterfield sure does add some GLAM. An exciting (and affordable) turquoise side chair from World Market and a simple gold coffee table from Target make up the backbone of this design.
I happen to live in a very old house with TERRIBLE drafts. So in the winter, I’m pretty much huddled in my bed under an electric blanket 24/7. To make it bearable so that I can get out of my bed and enter my living room, I invested in some heat absorbing, blackout curtains. I went with the black because obviously black is going to be the most effective, right? Anyway, they do seem to help a bit when the interior of my home is colder than the freeze outside.
I included the black curtains in this design and set it off with the black and white striped rug. I ADORE this rug from IKEA. I think it could work in literally ANY space. Sometimes I enjoy light, bright, and airy and sometimes I feel like I need something deeper, darker, and edgier.
How cool is the Agate side table from World Market? It’s only $49 right now so snag it before it disappears. In this design I wanted to keep adding pillows but I stopped myself to keep from overloading you. I think this design and this sofa screams for MORE PILLOWS! Cover it in pinks, purples, blues, and greens until you just can’t put any more and they MAYBE you’ll be satisfied. (Or maybe not)
I included some cool wall art here too. This is a pinked-out picture of the greatest city on planet earth – NYC! However, if you don’t share the same affinity to the Big Apple as I do, choose another edgy modern print to take its place.
Lastly, the gold radials are really going to set this place off. I just bought these from Target YESTERDAY! I can’t to hang them in my mess of a living room.
