Kate’s Birthday: Rainbows, Popsicles, & Two Year Olds

Kate is TWO! Can you even believe it! Just for kicks, here is the link to her birth story and her first birthday party in case you need to catch up.

If we’re being honest, the planning of a birthday party amidst the pandemic and then the Black Lives Matter movement seems trivial. But my girl only turns two once and it’s a reason to celebrate during this hard season of life. And we could all use a little celebration!

I really almost didn’t have a party. I wasn’t sure that we even could because of social distancing restrictions but phase 2 is in effect in Louisiana which meant that we could have a little family shindig without breaking any rules.

As you can tell from the above pictures, it wasn’t just Kate’s party. Two of my best childhood friends also have two year olds. Their kiddos turned two during quarantine and didn’t get to have parties so we thought it would be a GREAT idea to combine this year. Especially since our families are so close (practically related – they actually are!) and we would never miss each other’s parties. And splitting the workload was also a big help.

We decided on a rainbow popsicle theme. Honestly, I never go overly themey. I just like to make sure it’s cute and it TOTALLY was. All of the acrylic serving pieces are from the Dollar Tree. THE DOLLAR TREE! Even the those adorable pennants are from the the Dollar Tree. I was planning to make them myself but found them for a dollar each. It took me 4 packs to make these 3 pennants. I also switched out the ribbon (it came with red) for a white sheer ribbon so that it would blend into the background.

I love a good balloon garland. This kit is CLUTCH when creating these oversized balloon masterpieces. You can watch a ton of videos on how to do this on YouTube. I knew I wanted to do a ‘bubble’ garland so I went with clear balloons. The ultra clear bubble balloons are honestly the coolest thing I’ve ever seen and the other are a little more opaque but still turned out so pretty. I also did mini rainbow balloon garlands on the tables.

We kept the food really simple. The Funfetti Cake Batter Cookies were a hit, and the rainbow sprinkle popcorn is addictive. We also used fruit to create rainbow kabobs and made some orange and lemon infused water. The popsicles were the icing on the cake. And the cake was DELISH as well.

We set up water toys and kiddies pools for the little ones and they had a blast! Kate even asked up to sing ‘happy birday agin peez’. So, of course, we did. And Rylee and Lennox were the cutest little best friends ever.

We ended up ordering white terrycloth swim coverups for the girls and a plain white tee for the boys. I tie-dyed them and they turned out so adorable.

Honestly, the pictures don’t even do justice to how cute and fun this party was. The best party was sharing it with our best friends. I’ve linked all of the party supplies that I could below!
