Kate’s Nursery Reveal

The Nursery is ready for baby! I have been waiting so long to share this space with you guys!! I started designing it the day I found out I was pregnant (I had a boy option and a girl option) and when we found out we were having a baby girl, I went to work. Since this is what I do everyday, it was actually difficult to make decisions because I’m always looking at so many beautiful designs and pieces! Having too many options is often just as bad as not having enough! I knew I wanted a mostly white space with some classic eclectic vibes. I like simplicity in design (lots of white on white) but I also enjoy the little details of a space.

The final result? Well, it’s perfect and just in time (2.5 weeks left)! It’s soft but stylish and classic with a touch of trendy fun! Keep scrolling to check out Kate’s Nursery Reveal!

Shop My Room

I tried my best to link everything but I did grab some stuff from HomeGoods and TJ Maxx – DUH!

I kept everything really light and bright as you can see. One of my VERY favorite go-to paint colors is Benjamin Moore’s Swiss Coffee. It’s the color in my entire house. It’s the softest ivory white. The trick (thanks to my awesome baton rouge boss, Karen) is the pearl finish paint from Benjamin Moore. Don’t freak out, it’s not shiny. It’s the perfect finish for this color!

I also went with an off white velvet curtain and a white furry rug to layer over my pink one! A lot of people get super scared of mixing whites, ivories, and creams but as long as you’re doing it intentionally, it can create a beautiful classic vibe!

I have to brag on my glider for a second! I was so excited to team up with Delta Children and choose my favorite glider from them. The Skylar Swivel Glider is the BOMB! Delta Children has the BEST nursery furniture and a TON of glider options at fantastic price points. Head to their website to find a style that is perfect for you!

I did scotch guard the upholstery to make sure that it was ready to withstand baby mess but I knew I wanted the creamy white color to match the rest of the space. It’s the most comfortable chair and the swivel/glide feature is AMAZING. I finished it off with a blush blanket creating a nice stripe look down the middle and this GORGEOUS antelope print linen pillow. I love a soft touch of animal print.

Jenny Lind may have been the villain in The Greatest Showman, but girlfriend knew her furniture! I knew I wanted a JL crib from day one. They’re just so classic. Plus I can repaint it very easily if I decide my next baby needs something different.

We went with a gray wood dresser because I think it’s something that can be reused for a boy or as she gets older. I painted and framed some simple abstract pieces for above it! Since I don’t want to clutter my room with too much furniture, I let the dresser double as a changing table.

The lamp I found at Home Goods so I couldn’t find an exact one online but I found a few similar options. For the mirror above the bed (don’t worry, it’s super light and its hung very securely) I grabbed a simple $50 Target mirror and added this touch of greenery myself.

Adding greenery and flowers to your space is an easy designer tip for brightening a space and making it feel put-together. Another designer tip that will immediately elevate your design? Floor to Ceiling Curtains. As a rule, you want your curtain rods as high on your wall as you can. I have 9ft ceilings and I hang all of my rods about 3 inches from the bottom of the molding. Your curtain length should be within 1″ of the floor. This is going to draw your eye up and make your room feel taller and larger.

My favorite corner of the room is easily the picture ledge bookshelves. I grabbed these and the gold frames for SUPER cheap from ikea. I love how these provide the cutest bookshelves without sticking out from the wall very far. The more open floor space, the better!

Her closet was also a DIY. I bought a system from Home Depot and cut and customized it to fit exactly like I wanted. The cute little bins are from the Dollar Tree and I added the tassel I made from yarn! You don’t have to spend a fortune to get those cute little details. I almost ALWAYS keep her closet door open because it’s so cute to look at!

Also, for those of you wondering. No. There are no sheets on the bed. They haven’t come in yet but they’re plain white muslin. Baby bedding is a huge topic right now. Basically, the rule is this… Nothing in the bed with baby… Nothing! No bumpers, no blankets (tight swaddles only), no pillows, no stuffed animals. So these pillows will be taken out when she sleeps and the Dockatot as well. But I kind of LOVE the simplicity of the plain white sheet and bedskirt. Plus the money saved on all that bedding can go elsewhere.

I chose the white because I can bleach the heck out of if needed! Logic! I always tell my clients not to be afraid of white. I have two dogs (one big messy chocolate lab), a husband who gets sweaty all the time, and soon a newborn and a TON of White in my house. Trust me, it’s doable.

I’m obsessing over this little girl’s room and so are my pups! They hang out in here on the regular. I think they like that furry rug!! I hope you guys loved seeing it. If you have any other questions for me, comment below!

I love how your mind works! Not only grown-ups but your precious baby girl will love this room forever! I even remember a little boy who loved his room so much that he took a crayon and wrote a message on the wall when nobody was looking because he wanted the new tenants to know what a great room they were getting! So prepare yourself for your own little Kate to love this room forever! May God bless all who get the chance to spend time with your family here. I can hardly wait! We love you, Miss Kassy!
