Laundry Room Remodel

I lovingly refer to this space as a Laundry ‘Room’ when I know good and well it does NOT quality as a room. More of a space, ya know? No matter what it’s called, it NEEDED some help. When we first moved in, this space was actually 2 small closets. One functioned as the pantry and the other as a closet for a stackable washer/dryer. It was fine, but we had ZERO functional space for laundry. We even had to keep our detergent in the pantry next door. Not ideal. So I set to work trying to figure out a suitable plan to maximize space.

I ended up moving the pantry across the hall into a storage closet and opening up this space to utilize as a laundry space. Another thing you might need to know is that this is also our back entryway and the one most of our friends and family use daily. Too many doors in the space would mean a cluster, and I didn’t want something too ‘utilitarian’ either. So I started drawing and dreaming and I built this space with both my laundry and entryway in mind.

Before: This is after I had removed the bifold doors on each space.

Our back Entry way is on the left of this photo and our kitchen is on the right! So this is a main thoroughfare in our home and there is NO other place to move our laundry. Below are the after images and what I came up with. We’ve been living with it for 3 months and I couldn’t be happier with the function and the beauty of the finished product!

I’m proud to say that besides the cabinet doors and the countertops, I did this one by myself, start to finish! I have lots of reels and videos on my Instagram of the whole process!

Now the space functions as a beautiful spot for our entryway and also a functional laundry space. We have very little storage in our home and so adding as much as I could get here was a must. Yes. I lost some folding space by adding the upper cabinets but It was 100% necessary to have a place to hide all of our laundry ‘stuff’ and serving dishes!

And no matter what anyone says, this is the space I love most in this house right now. It feels cozy and warm and serves every purpose I intended for it to serve!
