Let’s Talk About Underwear

Ok, Ladies! Let’s chat about underwear… or as we call them in my house, UNDERPANTS (I’m not sure why, but this makes it 100% funnier)! I’ve noticed over the years that my needs and wants have DRASTICALLY changed when it comes to underwear. And I’m totally convinced that what we wear under our clothes has a huge impact on our self confidence. Just think about it. When you’re uncomfortable at base level, that is going to show in the way you walk and the way you carry yourself.

No one likes a wedgie. And we all know that no matter what type of underwear you’re wear, thong or otherwise, sometimes they travel too far up where they are SO not wanted. Moments like this can derail your train of thought and monopolize your intentions until you can safely remove your mega wedgie! So today, I’ve decided to break my silence on things unseen and let you guys know about my very favorite underwear for a happy, wedgie free, comfortable day.

I’d be lying if I said I discovered these amazing underpants (the word ‘panties’ makes me feel uncomfortable to say, so I won’t make you read it!) all on my own. I actually stole the idea from my mom. In fact, my underwear drawer has been starting to resemble hers a lot more lately. When I was younger, seeing all of the nude, black, and lightly patterned cotton undies made me think ‘BORING!’ But things change and we get smarter. I’m not saying you can’t have fun brightly colored underwear, but let’s be honest. Nude underwear is PRACTICAL. And the way I live my life these days, practical comfort wins every time.

The second most important thing to me (next to not being able to see my hot pink undies through my pants) is PANTY LINES. I used to seriously have a phobia of panty lines and so I only wore thongs to avoid this issue. But thongs just aren’t comfortable to me. I wear them when it’s necessary, but I don’t like it. I’ve tried lots of seamless undies and most are a fail to me. They end up riding up so high I get tiny little wrinkles that create lines anyway.

So let me tell you about what I (aka my mom) found at Soma. Say hello to your new best friend, Vanishing Edge. The silicone strips on seamless undies are not a new concept, but these are the first pair I’ve ever tried that ACTUALLY work. These undies STAY PUT. And they’re so comfy and so breathable (PS. No one is paying me to say this… even if they were, I would never lie).

I have them in both the hipster and bikini options and love both. I tend to lean toward the hipster pair more often because I love the side coverage. And I’m wear a size medium (I’m a 6-8in pants). I also love that they have at least 4 different ‘nude’ colors. Because we are NOT all the same color when we’re nude, AM I RIGHT? And we should celebrate that with a wide range of gorgeous ‘nude’ colors!

I’m super particular about what underwear I sleep in because all the tossing and turning typically gives me a super wedgie, but these don’t. I have never been more confident in my underwear in my whole life. Confident in no panty lines and 100% comfort all the time. Plus they offer lace versions as well for something a little sexier.

Seriously, guys. It’s time to put your big girl panties on… and they might as well be comfortable, cute, and functional!

Another Soma favorite of mine is their Cool Nights Pajama collection. I love wearing PJ sets. It just makes me feel ‘put together’! Plus when I’m working from home, if I have on a PJ set, I don’t feel like I need to change. Because it’s basically an outfit, right? These PJs are PERFECT if you’re like me and you tend to get hot at night. Or if you live in the south in general. They are made of the SOFTEST MATERIAL ON THE PLANET. It’s thin, lightweight, and I don’t find myself waking up in a hot sweat every night.

They make PJ sets, sleep shirts, lounge wear, and even T Shirt dresses out of this material. My mom has a couple of the dresses and wears them ALL the time. They are SO comfy and they have tons of cute patterns. They are a little pricey for a PJ set, but I tend to wear my pajamas for years and years (and pretty much all day long), so I might as well invest a little in them, right?
