Tips & Tricks for Christmas Gift Wrapping

Wrapping Christmas gifts is my favorite part of Christmas, I think. I’ve always regarded gift wrap as part of my Christmas decor and try to coordinate it with everything else. Deciding on what vibe to go with is so much fun and I try to mix things up every year.

In this post, I’m going to share some of my favorite tips and tricks on how to create the most beautifully wrapped gifts this Christmas as well as where I get all of my supplies!

TIP 1

Choose 2 – 4 different, but coordinating patterned wrapping papers. I got all of my paper from Minted this year. It’s the first year that I’ve shopped with them for paper, but I am THRILLED with the quality and selection. Not to mention, they have lots of personalized options. Some you can even add photos to. I chose the Merry Christmas paper with our family name.

Our patterns are: Merry Calligraphy Personalized Wrapping Paper, Red nose Wrapping Paper, Holly & Vines Wrapping Paper, Kraft and Copper Holidays Wrapping Paper

Here is a good way to choose your coordinating papers:

  1. Small Pattern (Brown Diamond)
  2. Large Pattern (Floral)
  3. Text (Merry Christmas)
  4. Kiddy Print (Reindeer)

I also always have at least 1 or 2 solid colored paper on hand as well. This year I went with brown craft paper (grab it at hobby lobby or even Walmart or office depot) but I’ve done black and white and hunter green in the past.

TIP 2

Layer your paper. I love pattern mixing. This is why you want to choose coordinating paper options. That way you can layer two prints and create a bit of interest. If you’re not into pattern mixing, then layer your solid paper with a print. I love this trick and think it really sets a gift apart.

TIP 3

I’ve been using this satin silk ribbon from Amazon for several years now and I LOVE it. I like to get a 2 inch and 1 inch roll in different colors. It’s a luxe looking ribbon and it makes your gift wrap look professional.

You can also layer these ribbons as well. Put the 2 inch under the 1 inch for a really pretty layered look.

I have the champagne and the black colors that I used last year and this year!

TIP 4

Add a sprig of greenery. This is something that I think makes each gift look handmade or at least hand wrapped. I love these picks that I got on Amazon. You get a TON of them. Plenty to throw at least one on each gift and likely have more for next year as well.

TIPS 5

I also love to add a personalized gift tag. I ordered these from Minted. Did I forget to change our last name on the front? YES! But at least we got an adorable photo of our family on the back. I’ll just cross out the name, I guess! HAHA! I love that I was able to use or photos from the beach. I just turned them black and white so that they matched my wrapping paper. I love how they turned out.

How do you guys typically wrap gifts? Are you all out like me? Or more of a simplistic bag and paper kind of gal? I included the Tiktoks that I made about wrapping below. I hope they help you out!
