Max’s Nursery

First things first. I know everyone and their mom is going to ask, “What is that paint color?” I’m happy to answer. It’s called ‘In the Moment’ by Behr. It’s the perfect gray green. And the key to getting this look is going with a matte finish paint. I’ve been really into matte finish lately but I wanted SUPER low sheen on this wall. Darker colors tend to cover better and look better in a lower sheen. I prefer matte paint to flat in most cases. The finish just feels thicker and nicer in my opinion.

This wall was hunter green before this in a satin sheen and it DID NOT look great. I wanted it to look good so bad, but the paint didn’t cover well. I thought I was going to repaint that color, but I decided to try something new. I ended up trying 5 different color samples before I found this one!

The bed, dresser, glider, fur rug, side table and tree were all in Kate’s nursery. I just moved them right over and accented the space differently and it all looks brand new. Here is Kate’s nursery design in case you’re interested.

The color palette was inspired by this Picasso Poster print that I found on Etsy. I loved the play on greens and oranges. This is not a palette that I would usually choose but it caught my eye and so I went with it. I bought the poster, sent it off to Shutterfly to have it printed in poster size and bought this ikea frame to frame it. A quick coat of gold spray paint finished off the frame and I LOVE the way it turned out.

If you’re looking for art for a little boy’s nursery, I LOVE the idea of a vintage poster print or an architectural drawing. Etsy has so many of them. And most of them are downloads you can print on your own or send off to print. For little girls, the same thing applies only think vintage magazine cover and sewing patterns.

With a few more accents this space looks so different from Kate’s nursery even though the majority of the items are the same. It’s amazing what you can do with a few books, an accent wall, and a few pops of color!

I linked everything above. A lot of the items are old and out of stock, but I linked some super similar options!
