This is one of those projects that felt like to took forever and challenged me in so many ways, but then end result is just so good and worth every single minute! So let me introduce you to this space.
My friends and clients, Heather & Rusty have an amazing ministry and business called The Redeemed Marriage. <-click to check them out! They have an amazing redemption story (hence the name) in their marriage and are using their experience and expertise to providing resources and coaching for others! They also host a marriage based podcast as well. And I’m just HUGE fan of them. I have been since we met through our church’s music ministry. They exude positivity, hope, and fun and I just pray my marriage and home is as welcoming as theirs one day. They are the kind of couple who you just instantly love and the way they share Jesus through their journey is just so beautiful!
So, when they approached me about making over their upstairs room, I couldn’t wait to get started. The space they use for podcasting currently is above their garage and has been a playroom, teen room, and maybe even an indoor soccer field at one point – I had to fix a couple of holes in the walls (hahahahaha)! They wanted to turn it into a welcoming, warm space that double as both podcast & video studio as well as in person counciling & coaching space! They shared their branding packaging for The Redeemed Marriage with me and we got started.
They expressed their need for book shelves. They love to read and use books often in their work and I felt like we should make it a ‘moment’ in the space. We decided on wall to wall bookshelves along one wall. I knew color drenching this space was the right call as well and we ended up choosing ‘Oval Room Blue’ by Farrow and ball. It’s actually pretty similar in color to my closet!
For the main space, we thought 4 chairs would be the most comfortable and conversational. And I happen to love a ‘circle’ style sitting room. I kept it cozy with a rug and a plush ottoman. We also switched out the light fixture as well for something with a bit more personality. As someone who has been in and love therapy & counseling, I would 100%
The podcasting are has quickly become my favorite. If you know me, you know how I feel about wallpaper – big BIG fan. HUGE. This little nook felt like the perfect place to add a little pop of pattern. We went tone on tone as not to be a huge distraction in videos but the look adds the perfect amount of interest to the space.
I also built out their podcast desk. We discussed lots of options for the space but ultimately felt that the T shape worked best for them. They could easily face each other while still have some desk space to work with! And the orange chair ares truly the icing on the cake.
I’m just so excited for this space to serve their ministry in so many ways. My prayer for the space is that God will use the calming color and the cozy vibes to heal marriages and hearts through Rusty and Heather’s love for the Lord and seeing his kingdom grow and thrive!
I’ve linked just about everything I could here!
