How to Wear your Summer Rompers into Fall

The summer to fall transition is 100% my favorite ‘fashion transition’ of the year. But it can also be challenging. We’re over here wearing lots of pastels, whites, and light weight fabrics and all of the sudden labor day happens and the fashion ‘lawmakers’ expect us to just change. This is especially hard in the south because the weather stays soooo hot until at least mid October. Well, if you’ve followed along the blog for the last few years then you know that I’m a rule breaker when it comes to fashion. White should be worn all year round and open toed shoes are the BOMB! So, I wanted to put together a post to help you guys make the transition as well. I’ve got tons of the cutest rompers (This is the one from this post!) in my closet that I just don’t want to stop wearing and I’ve got the perfect solution for wearing them into the next season. So keep reading for my tips on how to wear your Summer rompers into Fall!

One of my favorite ways to transition into the fall fashion season is to ‘THROW A SWEATER ON IT’! I’ve had this open knit sweater for several years and it has easily become one of the most used items in my closet. I’ve had to bleach it several times because that’s how often I wear it! It’s the perfect sweater to throw on OVER things. Like this romper for example. It’s also thin enough to tie around my waist without looking too bulky. It covers your torso and keeps you a bit warmer if the weather gets nippy, but it’s not so thick that you’re going to DIE in that mid-day Fall heat. I also love how the stripes of the romper play peek-a-boo through the sweater!

This sweater is (like I said) 5 or so years old, but I’ve linked several similar options. This is one of those timeless pieces that is a wardrobe STAPLE.

This romper is soooo cute! And I’m glad I won’t have to put is away for fall just yet. I love the double strap and the high neckline on it! The shorts are a great length and I kind of have to pull the waistband up a bit. So, if you’re taller, the shorts will probably still be long enough for you! I’m wearing a large here but I should’ve stuck with a medium. I was have a fat day (you ladies know what I’m talking about) when I order this one so I sized up to be safe. But I would say this runs pretty true to size. Shop it HERE!

Another way to transition your rompers is to wear them with closed toe shoes. I know I said above that I don’t follow that rule, but in some circumstances it really does help. This look would be adorable with booties as well. I would just use a more ‘fall-ish’ shoe to tie in the sweater. I don’t think wearing sandals with this is going to give you fall vibes! Speaking of these kicks, size UP! I’m wearing a 7.5 (I usually wear a 7) and they’re snug. I might even should’ve gone for the 8! And don’t forget to wear those little socks…. I got a heel blister in no time flat!

I like this suggestion very much. In fact I might crochet a pullover just for this purpose alone. Yours looks very comfy!

This is a cute look. Our fall is still pretty warm so I wouldn’t even need to cover up! The top though is cute and I like how it looks over the romper.

Great idea to throw a sweater over the romper to transition to fall. My youngest just started keeping into rompers and this will help her get the most out her new outfits.

Yesssss! I absolutely adore Summer, so I always love an outfit that I can transition in to other seasons to still give me the Summer vibes. I can’t wait until it warms up here in Australia so I can wear something like this again. We’re currently in the middle of Winter and I’m sososososo over it.

    Great style, girl. 🙂

They are super cute and comfy – as long as you wear footie socks. If not, breaking them in will give you heel blistersss… the WORST!

What a cute outfit! You’re so right- the transition is difficult and I don’t blame you for for wearing whites and open toed shoes past Labor Day! It does stay hot down here (I’m in Texas) until October and my thought is- if the pool is still open, I’m still wearing summer clothes!
